Conference Summary

The International Conference on Chemical Engineering & Industrial Biotechnology 2024 (ICCEIB2024) was organized by the Faculty of Chemical & Process Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah and co-hosted with our partners, Nguyen Tat Thanh University from Vietnam and Tianjin University from China. The conference was held on 27- 29 August 2024, at The Everly Hotel, Putrajaya, with the theme, “Collaborative Approaches to SDGs: Catalizing Sustainability in Food, Energy and Waste Security”. This year, academics and individuals from industries came from across the globe, with a notable presence from Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, Jordan, United Kingdom, Norway and South Korea, gathered to share their insights and research on the future potential of sustainable food, energy, and clean water resources. The number of submitted extended abstracts were 163 with 116 full paper submissions.

The programme was commenced with a very warm welcome from the chairman of the conference; Prof. Ts. Dr. Sumaiya binti Zainal Abidin@ Murad followed by officiation ceremony by Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Bin Zainuddin. The oral presentations consists of 4 keynote speakers and 121 oral presenters. The keynote speaker includes Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad bin Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor ( Academic & International Affairs) of UMPSA with the title of the speech was “Collaborative Approaches to SDGs: Catalysing Sustainability in Food, Energy, and Water Security”. We also had Professor Dr. Luis Ricardez- Sandoval from University f Waterloo, Canada giving his speech with the title, “Optimal Process Integration of Chemical and CO₂ capture and Utilization Systems: A Path to Achieve Sustainability and Net-Zero Emissions”. The next keynote speaker was Ir. Dr. Salmah Binti Zakaria, a fellow from Academy of Science Malaysia (ASM) with the title, “Towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Water Management - Malaysia's journey”. Our final keynote speaker was Mr Wesley Tan Seah Ging,  the Managing Director of Aqina Group of Companies with the title of his speech was “Adapting to Sustainable Food Production”.
